Linux Live Disc with RAR support

Hey I'm new to messing around with linux, but I was wondering if anyone could suggest me a Linux live disc that supports RAR files. I'm not interested in installing it yet which why I just want a live disc. I need one that works with a 64 bit AMD processor. Thanks!

I dont think there is rar installed by default on any distro.
some distro supports decompresing rar but not compresing.

You can create your own ubuntu live CD using reconstructor.

    Hi and Welcome !

You can extract rar archives using unrar but its not pre-installed in most distros. If your machine has internet access then you can install unrar package in LiveCD of any Linux distro.
    For Ubuntu, execute this
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install unrar
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

    Just a thought?

I rar format free to implement? If it is not, then is it possible to bundle the distros by default

I tried this but I get the message :

"Package unrar is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source"

    Download it from here.
    http://www.rarlab.com/rar/rarlinux-3.8.0.tar.gz

Put the rar an unrar files/binaries in /usr/bin folder and then use unrar from the command line.

I got unrar working. Thanks for the help!

I have another question but I don't really want to create another thread because it is semi related.

If I download a file to the /home/ubuntu/Documents directory on the livedisc. Will it save the file to my hard drive or is it just temporarily writing it to the RAM and will Unrar stay installed?

It gets saved temporarily to your RAM. It doesnt touch your hard disk.

If you want to save it, save it on your flash-drive or mount any hard disk paritition and save it there.

None... They arnt saved. Remember Live session is actually live. If you want to save settings, better allot it a place on your hard disk.
