    Best way would be to check your /proc/cmdline and /etc/modules.conf to see if the ide-scsi argument is given somewhere. If it isn't, add it to the kernel command line. If you're using GRUB, for example, open your /boot/grub/grub.conf, find the "kernel" line that you're using, and add "ide-scsi=<drive>" to the end of it, where <drive> is eg. hdd if you want to hook up /dev/hdd on SCSI emulation.
