    Problem Starting X

    Hi all ,

    I have installed linux on my machine with dual boot with windows it seem to be fine however when I run the Linux version and try to startx for a GUI I get this happen

    What kind of video adapter do you have? It looks like a bad driver...Tell us what linux version your running as well, I imagine the distros handle video driver replacements differently.

    Hi guys I manage to fix this problem from the xorg files modes was missing, so i added this with 1024x768 and now this works on standard monitor.

    However I want to connect this to my 32 inch tv how can I do this? is it case of chaning the size from 1024x768 to whatever the size I want ??

    Never done it, but I would assume that it would be very similar to setting up your xorg settings for a monitor. Just check the TV's manual for proper resolutions and refresh rates. If it's a fairly new TV then there may be some How-To steps in there as well.
