    Filesystem for an USB external hard drive

    Hello,

    what is the recommanded filesystem for an USB external hard disk
    to be used on both Linux and Windows XP ?
    It seems that FAT and NTFS are available. Maybe others ?

    I've always used FAT32 for this. I works out of the box. If you go with NTFS it can be made to work, but requires a little more configuration.
