    Identify drivers and packages

I'm a complete novice to linux and have loaded Mythbuntu 8.04.1 onto a spare 8GB drive to evaluate it.

It's all looking promising but I've a small problem with the remote for my Hauppauge T500 tv receiver card not repeating properly.

[SOLVED] 8.10 beta1; novaT500 remote not working - Ubuntu Forums
suggests that I need to update the ?dvb driver? to v41-dvb.

My question is how do I establish which version of driver I have already?

In a similar vein, how do you list package version numbers? apt-get seems to have no option for that.

    Regards
    Phil B

    Hello and Welcome!

I'm not at all familiar with Mythbuntu, but as far as some questions you may have about apt-get, this may help: Apt-get Guide - Linuxhelp Wiki

many thanks Jay, didn't spot that.
Will try it asap though -s might also be safe at the same time.

I've also found that dpkg -l shows version numbers of applications, but not drivers.
