I tried MOD and sudo MOD and neither one was recognized.
To answer the way above question
I am trying to install NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.14.18-pkg1.run.
I have been working on this for many hours. It is now morning here and I have been up and down all night. Started about 16 hours ago.

Took out the caps and it said I neded to install something else. It also gave instructions. I am doing that now. then I will try the mod command again.

Don't worry about the MOD command ... I was making a comment to have a Forum Moderator move your post to the correct Forum.

I have downloaded the driver to my desktop folder and also the installer but I cannot seem to get the Installer to work.
The Xdriver closing is a result of trying to just download the driver using the sudo sh command in terminal.
(I have learned all of this in the last few hours so I may be using things wrong.)

I am assuming you are following these instructions: Linux Display Driver - x86
