ok which linux distro is closest to the kinda i will encounter in industry? as i am currently doing programming in university so want to get a taste for what i will experience in the outside world

Most Linux sysadmin jobs I have seen here in the UK seem to require knowledge of Red Hat. I have seen the occassional job that requires NOVELL SLES or Ubuntu, but they are not as common as Red Hat.

Agreed. Red Hat for alot of what you'll run into. I've also found the quite a few networking servers run SuSE.

Linux is used widely also for special perpose many companies are using their own customized linux systems.

If you're interested in doing system administration, then knowing the peculiarities of a distro like RHEL or SUSE would be important (as everybody else here has stated).
However, if you're simply planning to be writing software on Linux systems, your distro basically doesn't matter. Each distro sets up its configuration a bit differently, and may have their own patches for the kernel, but from a programmer's perspective, they're basically the same.DISTRO=Arch
