    Distro suggestions?

I'm looking for a distro thats just drivers and no pre-installed apps but still has a window manager or desktop installed.

So basically I need a really light distro with a desktop with decent hardware support.

Those are the only factors I care about.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

I'm not sure of any distribution that has absolutely no applications installed but if you want a very light weight distribution check out Damn Small Linux (DSL)

You might try SliTaz. Very lightweight, simple desktop, fully functional.

    Welcome to LinuxForums!

Sounds like you might want to look into a custom distro, such as CRUX or Gentoo. Nothing pre-installed, just the stuff you decide to put there.

Yeh I tried Gentoo in the past. Definitely configurable, but very time consuming.

Really I'm looking for a distro to use as a basis for my own, so I'm looking for something that really isn't ready for immediate desktop usage but still functional.

How about a Debian netinstall? You start with just a basic system without even X running and you can add what you want from there.

Debian -- Network install from a minimal CD

You know what that sounds like a good idea. I might just go with Debian.
