I believe he's saying this is the problem. He types "the" and extra characters are printed. It's weird, and I'm afraid I don't know what's causing this. I guess see my other other post where I refer to Linos Linux as crap. If you're willing to learn a bit, I recommend installing a different distro. You'll still probably have a few struggles, but it will likely be easier to help you with them and I think you'd be better satisfied with a real distribution in the long run.

may be while installing you might have selected wrong configuration for your keyboard.

If it's not the keyboard configuration (probably not), then it seems that your keyboard is glitching. A couple of things can cause this: static, a bad or loose connector, the keyboard may be going bad, or the system keyboard interface circuitry on the motherboard is going bad (if this is a PS/2 type keyboard, not USB). So, is this a PS/2 or USB keyboard? Have you checked cabling and connections? Does wiggling the connectors cause the problem to occur? Are you getting small shocks from your keyboard when you slide around on your chair? This last item has happend to me in the past, and caused random letters to be generated.

these all seem very unlikely if it's specific to the word "the", it seems like a software issue if it's so particular. If it were more consistent, in all software, etc...then I'd think hardware...

I took 'the' as an example, at least from what I understood from the rest of the posting. We'll find out when scottyb1 posts here again. Maybe he already found cause of the problem?
