Problems with sound preferences HELP!!
Hi,
I just got linux, and i could watch perfectly fine my movies with MOVIE PLAYER, until i accidently played around with SOUND PREFERENCES, and now i have no idea what it was before, and I cant hear anything from my videos.
All i can tell you is that these are the different choices for every tab under sound preferences:
SOUNDS EVENTS:
- Sound Playback : OSS, HDA Intel Analog, HDA Digital, ALSA, ESD, Pulse Audio Sound Sever
Music and Movies
-Sound Playback: OSS, HDA Intel Analog, HDA Digital, ALSA, ESD, Pulse Audio Sound Sever
AUDIO CONFERENCING
-Sound Playback: OSS, HDA Intel Analog, HDA Digital, ALSA, ESD, Pulse Audio Sound Sever
-Sound Capture: OSS, HDA Intel Analog, HDA Digital, ALSA, ESD, Pulse Audio Sound Sever
Default Mixer
- Device: [U]Analog Devices AD1981 (OSS MIXER, Capture ALSA PCM on front (AD198 Analog), Capture Monitor Source of Alsa PCM on front, HDA Intel[(alsa mixer), Playback ALSA PCM on front [U]
I know i shouldnt have messed around with it, but i reeaallly need your help
and it would be great if you could tell me what i should put under every selection
thanks a lot
Take care

You probably accidentally turned the input volume down. What distribution+version and desktop (kde, gnome) are you running?
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
Just remember, Semper Gumbi - always be flexible!
