    Too much extra memory

Hello, I have a Suse file server.. primarily running samba. The main thing the machine does is manage a software raid 5 as well as a few extra hard drives. 98% of the time running in init 3.. aside from NXing in from time to time to make changes.

So I recently stuck in 4 gigs of ram just since it's so cheap.. and noticed its really not using over 200mb most of the time.. 1gig at the most. Are there any tweaks or changes that I might consider.. that would make use of this high speed storage?

    Thanks!

The more files get read and used the more memory will be allocated as buffers and caches. I suspect this will happen automatically

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

    Welcome to the forums!

If you are running a 32-bit kernel that is not high memory enabled, you might need to enable it, or go with a 64-bit system to utilize all the added RAM.
