Acer Aspire 5735Z with Linpus Linux - how to start with?
Hello Everyone,
I am a brand new newbie in Linux world....
I have just received an Acer Aspire 5735 Z laptop, it has Linpus Linux as OS.
I have heard lots of nice things about Linux so I have decided to try this Linux thing first.
(This is the first Linux I would see, I only used / using MS OS up till today.)
So I switched on my laptop and waited. It run through some diagnostics and everything was a green OK except lan settings, this is OK because I did not attached LAN cable as I planned to use the wifi.
After that I have received a normal Dos-like screen with no graphic view at all.
So that was the point when I shut-down the computer.
Can you please help me how to start with? What commands to use?
I would like to try this Linux but I prefer graphic interfaces instead of command lines.Unfortunately I have no Linux manual at all attached to the laptop, there was only a recovery disc.
At Acer website and at Linpus Linux website I have not find anything, so I really do not know anything yet regarding what to do that nice command line after startup

after you login to your laptop, try executing command
Code:exec startx

Usually dropping to a console after log in means something is wonky with the X server or graphics driver. (The X server is sort of the framework for the whole graphical interface.) This is definitely not normal behavior for something like Linpus on the Aspire. It should be preconfigured and working out of the box. Is there some customer support you can talk to about it? I would consider returning it and getting a replacement, if only because I would suspect there's something fundamentally wrong for it to screw up like that on first boot.

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

I think it was before login....
I mean it did not ask for any login and password.
This is a brand new laptop coming from the shop so I hope, that this Linpus Linux is not broken. It is a v9.2.
When it gave me the command line, I typed "startx" it said unknown command.

I've had a quick Google for this and the general consensus seems to be return it as faulty and get a new that works.
Sorry for the bad news fabyen. If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate! (Zapp Brannigan)
