    Just had first look at MBR and its three fields. Understood BS(Boot Sector) and PT(Partition Table) but what the heck it MN(magic no) the remaining two bytes????

    Its MBR signature. Like Hard disk signature, it doesn't have much practical value.
    It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

    it means that the active partition
    just like 1 for active and 0 means deactive. which os can understand.
