    Problem with audio in ubuntu

    Hello
I recently installed ubuntu on my HP laptop. Everything is working fine apart form the audio. I checked the sound form
    Code:
    system>preferences>sound
Everything there is set to auto but I can't hear the audio as it is played to low. Also can't watch videos on Youtube . How to rectify this problem.
Only if I could understand the man pages

Execute alsamixer command in Terminal and move sliders up.

You have to install Flashplugin to play Youtube videos.
    Code:
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Type 'ubuntu comprehensive sound problems' into Google.

You will find a ubuntuforum megathread, which should cover the majority of issues that new users are likely to encouter. Send me a PM if you're still stuck.
