    flashdrive boot ?

    I *think* i have puppy linux installed on a flash drive, question is, when i go into the boot menu, it shows ( hd ) and then is says ( partition 2 ) is the computer calling the flash drive a seperate partition ? i was afraid to try it till i get some feedback, thanks.

    You can have multiple bootable partitions on your hard drive. It is likely that it will not show the bootable thumb drive unless you configure grub to look for it. To boot from the thumb drive, you need to either configure your BIOS to look at the USB drives before the hard drive, or select the one-time boot option at startup if your BIOS supports it. My BIOS doesn't have the one-time boot option outside the BIOS. I have to go into the BIOS settings, and ask it to boot from the USB drive (sort of like a one-time boot option). When it does that, it bypasses the hard drive altogether.
    Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

    A flashdrive or bootable flashdrive will usually be recognised as a partition in its own right.
