    Post Recommended distribution?

I have been using Ubuntu on my Acer Aspire One (1.6gHz, 1GB RAM) since 8.10 as a kind of secondary OS to windows. However, now I need to use it as a primary OS, booting Live from USB, due to a little hard drive error.

I mostly use it for web browsing and music, with a little word processing here and there. So, I need a distrobution that comes preinstalled with full Wi-Fi support and mp3 drivers. 9.04 has the WiFi, but still no mp3 support.

So, can anyone reccomend a version for me?

If 9.04 works for wireless, why not install restricted-extras for mp3 support? Especially if you 're happy with it now. edit Linux Mint comes with mp3 enabled. I have it on my laptop & like it very much.

My problem is that when I reboot, I often don't have internet access. Since I'm booting Live each time, it's a real pain to have to install mp3 drivers or an external program after each reboot.

If you have another USB stick, try downloading Mint from the link above, run it live to make sure it plays nice with your hardware before installing. I use the XFCE distribution (Mint 5) on my laptop, which is celeron processor & 512 Mb ram. The link above is for Mint 7.

It might be worth having a go with easy peasy (Easy Peasy - Ubuntu for Netbooks)

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

You might want to try using Reconstuctor on ubuntu. You can build your own live cd (install restricted-extras for mp3 support etc) then install that to a usb stick.
