Another green Newbie has arrived...
Hi everyone.
I'm Nick, a silver surfer intending to convert one Athlon Pc and a laptop to Linux... So far with very little success!
I'll browse the forum to see what I can learn, but meantime let me tell you all that I've burnt 5 distro's so far, and failed with them all...
Thanks Ozar for the welcome mail.
Regards all, Nick.

Welcome aboard... you can check this HowTo for instructions on properly downloading and burning the ISO files to disk as images:
http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/ins...ll-cd-dvd.html
If after following all the steps provided in the HowTo you are still having problems, post back and maybe someone can help.oz

Probably the burn
Thanks Oz. Great link, and I'll read it a couple of times...
I think My prob is in burning at 24X, so I'll do it at 4X - its the slowest I've got.
Cheers, Nick.

Welcome to the forums. A 4X burn usually gives you a better burn on Windows, so hopefully you get better results.

HI and welcome nick. I don't know what area you live in, but i got started in linux by using the live cd in linux format magazine, it's been well worth the cost of the magazine.....2 years linux now with NO camplaints. also linux pro magazine has live cd's in every issue, I have a collection of them now. just a thought.

Welcome to the forums Nick
Check download is correct, make sure you select burn image to disk (at lowest speed), check cd integrity if you get the option at boot
Keep trying ... you will get there in the end
