[SOLVED] Burning Cd's - as image? Not on my burn software.

    Hi folks.
Reading through the forums I learn that to copy an ISO file to disc it needs to be as an image. This option is not on my software.

As a burner, I've got NTI CD and DVD 7, which gives me these options:
Data disc - CD / DVD / Mix
Video - Video CD / Super Video / DVD Video TS / Cinematic Video / DVD Fit
Photo - Photo disc / Slideshow VCD / Cinematic slideshow

So which do I use to burn a disc I can actually use?

BTW, I now have a collection of shiny coasters with all sorts of fancy names:
Freespire, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, and Dream Linux! All U/S... I've got 8 so far!!!
    Good game, Good game...

    Gratefull for any assistance, Nick.

You can check this link for instructions on properly burning the ISO files as images to the disk:

Check the following link for lots of other burning apps, one or more of which should work for you:

What kind of OS are you trying to burn this CD from? If it's Windows, try downloading and installing ISO Recorder. Once installed, it should easily allow you to write ISOs (as an image) to a disc simply by right-clicking on the file.

If you're on Linux, there's lots of software that will let you burn an ISO as an image; k3b and graveman come to mind.

Ubuntu has some good documentation on how to burn an iso image in windows or linux. They suggest infra recorder, which is a free program you can download.

    Thanks guys...
I'm on an Acer Aspire 3630 Laptop runing windows Xp SP3.
Tried Thrillhouse's link to ISO Recorder... It didn't run on this box.
I've not got a box running Linux yet... Still trying.
I guess I need to find a better CD burner to run on windups(windows)
Had Nero but lost it after a big crash & format...

No wonder I'm going Bl***dy grey!!!

I'll investigate the other links, and see how it goes.

I may come back whingeing again yet...

Open a terminal window, switch to root, and use the growisofs command to write an iso image to disc. You can figure out how to use it with the man page: man growisofs

FWIW, all GUI iso burners on Linux use this program under the covers to do the actual CD/DVD burning.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

If you're still on Windows, you can use the open source and free CDBurnerXP.

    CDBurnerXP: Introduction and News

That will allow you to burn images. Make sure you don't go extracting them first - just feed the .iso into the burning application!
