Major Problems Installing VLC, please HELP!!!
Okay, so, I've had my acer aspire one running on linpus linux. I've been using it for school work an stuff, but i figured i should be able to install other stuff. I really want to install VLC as well as some othe programs, but mostly VLC.
Whenever i try, (and i've tried a lot of different things) i always end up with the same error:
no package vlc available. nothing to do
NO PACKAGE VLC AVAILABLE!!!!!!!!!
What is happening here?
I also have many times gotten the
error: Failed dependencies:
system-release >= 10 is needed by rpmfusion-free-release-10-5.noarch
Please help me!
I am so frustrated and i have no idea how everybody else is able to install but not me! I would really appreciate it, although i must say i don't understand much when it comes to linux, so please explain it simply.
THank you!!!

You can get the packages you need here: VLC media player - Open Source Multimedia Framework and Player

if you're new to linux I'd suggest moving away from Linpus. It seems like it was designed for the new user but is handicapped in many ways.
Some suggestions to check out would be Ubuntu, OpenSuse, Fedora Core, Mint
all of these have great support, are designed for newer users and you won't have issues like not being able to find VLC in the repositories.Bodhi 1.3 & Bodhi 1.4 using E17
Dell Studio 17, Intel Graphics card, 4 gigs of RAM, E17

there's the problem...
Whenever i try to download anything, it doesn't work. All i want is VLC, it can't be that hard can it?
When i go to the main page of vlc and try to insert the codes into terminal, i get the same error every time.
NO PACKAGE FOR VLC AVAILABLE!
This is probably because i am always told to add a repository first, but when i do that, i get the same error over and over again:
error: Failed dependencies:
system-release >= 10 is needed by rpmfusion-free-release-10-5.noarch
I figure if i can just solve this, i can probably install vlc...
Anybody know what to do?

Rubbermans Link has the package download for your linpus lite which is based on fedora.
Sounds like you neederror: Failed dependencies:
system-release >= 10 is needed by rpmfusion-free-release-10-5.noarch
From the section on this pageFedora 9 (Sulphur), Fedora 10 (Cambridge) and Fedora 11 (Leonidas)
Use RPM Fusion for F9, F10 and F11 (available for x86, x86_64, ppc and ppc64)
Install rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm for F9, F10 and F-11.

#> rpm -ivh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/...ble.noarch.rpm
#> yum install vlc

as I suggested, I say go with one of the major releases instead of Linpus which....I've read has some issues that you may find to be quite irritating more often then not.

Linpus Lite is very limited(some would say crippled...) and I recommend replacing it with a real Linux distribution.
For Acer Aspire One, there is probably nothing better than Ubuntu Easy Peasy.
Everything works out the box: wireless, camera, codecs are preinstalled, flash is preinstalled and it has Firefox 3, OpenOffice 3, Pidgin,VLC and Songbird!!!
You have to do NOTHING after the installation!
It really rocks
The installation is really easy and in case you have a question, everyone in the forums can help you, since Ubuntu (on which it is based) is probably the most popular Linux distribution.
