Unneeded startup items
Hi. I am currently running a dual boot with Ubuntu 9.04 and Windows XP.
Which startup items can I leave unchecked and which ones are essential? I would like to streamline things a bit.

I run bum (Boot up Manager) in 8.04LTS (Desktop) and I just checked Synaptic in my 9.04 running in my Asus and it is available there.
You can install it and control what you wish to startup or disable with it.
I disabled Bluetooth, (don't use it)
It will give you a list of startup services. I can't tell you what exactly to disable because you will know what you need to boot up.Linux Registered User # 475019

If you let us know what services do you have enabled we can give you a brief explanation about them, so you can decide what do you need and what can be discarded.
