    Unneeded startup items

Hi. I am currently running a dual boot with Ubuntu 9.04 and Windows XP.
Which startup items can I leave unchecked and which ones are essential? I would like to streamline things a bit.

I run bum (Boot up Manager) in 8.04LTS (Desktop) and I just checked Synaptic in my 9.04 running in my Asus and it is available there.

You can install it and control what you wish to startup or disable with it.

I disabled Bluetooth, (don't use it)

It will give you a list of startup services. I can't tell you what exactly to disable because you will know what you need to boot up.

If you let us know what services do you have enabled we can give you a brief explanation about them, so you can decide what do you need and what can be discarded.
