    Question [SOLVED] NFS Client doesnt prompt for a password ..

    hey all,

    i hv been facing this prob for quite sumtym now . i hv set up an nfs client which mounts the nfs from my lap ( server ) , but when i start the client , it starts all the services and then prompts for login id as

    localhost login:

    here when i enter the id as root it doesnt prompt for a password and hangs there .
    I am not able to understand what the problem is ...
    please note that i m using runlevel 3 ( multiuser mode) , and if i do the same thing in single user mode , i am able to login to the root with the id and passwod that i created ... the system doesnt hang there ...

    PLease help ...

    It looks like a case of wrong pam configuration, There may be other reasons but PAM misconfiguration is the most prevalent.
    Post the configuration of /etc/pam.d/login and /etc/pam.d/system-auth here
