Keeping Gnome?
I have the desktop gui installed, naturally. But I find that I never really use it.
Does this have to stay on the computer? Or am I able to uninstall or disable it?
Any unseen negative effects if is?

Welcome to the forums!
No, you don't have to keep Gnome. You can remove it and any other desktop environments along with the xserver itself if you like working from the command line. Lots of users prefer to work that way.oz
