Howdy and Welcome ldaddona. I own a Asus eeepc 900, with the 4gig and 16gig ssd drive hardrives (internal) with a Xandros 4.0 Operating System.
As far as I know you will need Xandros 4.5 instead of 4.0 which is probably what you have on your Netbook.i have no problem downloading the upgrade but i am unable to install it.
You can start learning about your Netbook by looking at

I enabled the Icewm Desktop on mine and added the Debian repositories on mine.

Or you can install KDE advanced mode if you wish to

I suggest you also join the EEEpc Forum that is bookmarked in your Firefox browser that you have installed now. I use the Firefox 2.0 that is installed in Xandros with no Problems. If I need to use Firefox 3.5. I use the AntiX 8 install that I have on my external SDHC 8gig Flash Drive. I
run a dual boot you see. My choice for a External dual boot O/S was AntiX. There are numerous distros out of the box that works for your Asus. EEEbuntu, Puppeee, Easy Peasy (which is a nice one).
As far as Inatalling Firefox in your EEEPC using Xandros (which I am guessing is the O/S on there as you have given no detail as to what you are using)
The Firefox Website has the instructions there
The following instructions will install Firefox into your home directory, and only the current user will be able to run it.
1. Download Firefox from the Firefox download page to your home directory.
2. Open a Terminal and extract the contents of the downloaded file.
cd ~
tar xjf firefox-*.tar.bz2
3. Close Firefox if it's open.
4. To start Firefox, run the firefox script in the firefox folder.
~/firefox/firefox
Firefox should now start. You can then create an icon on your desktop to run this command.Linux Registered User # 475019

I am in Xandros right now. For grins, I just downoaded Firefox 3.5 to my Users Folder. It downloads as a bz2 file. I open up my Fiile Manager to get to Home Folder which isalso called User Folder in XandrosI right click the firefox file and use Extract. I pick out User as the place I want it to extract to. Be Patient. It takes a few seconds to extract the file. After you are done. You should have a firefox folder in your User Directory. I then deleted the firefox Tarbz2 file as it is not needed any more. Leave the regular Firefox folder alone for right now.
I hit CTRL+ALT+T to open my Terminal. I type In Terminal
Hit Enter. Firefox 3.5 opens up quicker than anything. I don't Know How to make it launchable yet by adding a launch icon yet in Xandros. I am just a Biker Using Linux User. I am Not a programmer by any means. So try out what I did first to see and make sure Firefox 3.5 will launch and work for you. That will let you know that it is going to be launchable Later. Have funCode:~/firefox/firefox

Looks Like I spoke too soon. I had Firefox open when I gave that command and what Ii really opened up was Firefox 2.0. When I closed Firefox 2.0 and issued above command in Terminal in the above post I got a error Message which stated
Which Loosely translates that My Xandros Operating System won't support Firefox 3.5. Which means your edition of Xandros probably won't either. You wil probably have to enable the advanced Desktop from EEEPC Users WIKI to get the KDE Desktop going and then Open UP KDEs Syynaptic Package Manager and Enable The Debian Etch Repositories to update gtk to a newer version. I am not willing to go that far just to see If I can Install Firefox 3.5 in My Xandros O/S. I have a dualboot setup for that with a more moder operating system for that. Sorry ldaddona, but it looks as if you are going to have to live with what you have for now as Xandros Easy Mode is not up to date enough to run Firefox 3.5.We're sorry, this application requires a version of the GTK+ library that is not installed on your computer.
You have GTK+ 2.8.
This application requires GTK+ 2.10 or newer.
Please upgrade your GTK+ library if you wish to use this application.
You can use my link

If you care to if you havve your heart set on installng Firefox 3.5. Some other user more advanced than me on Xandros and EEEPC is going to have to assist you from here.Linux Registered User # 475019
