hdparm --cecurity-erase timing
I'm researching data erasure software.
With alot of reading i found
ata.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/ATA_Secure_Erase
that say 80gb hard drive can be erased in 40sec. Well it's sounds just fantastic, but made me think if it's possible at all.
Sure everything is just abstract till i tryed it myself, and resaults was pretty good (well better than Dban or any other software "zerroing") but way longer that 40sec, or even two minutes, like it was on that webpage.
for couple days i'm trying to find what i'm doing wrong, but seems it's just no possible way to make Secure erase faster.
Will be happy to hear any suggestions
P.S.: What in a heck hdparm81 mean? it's even not such a thing.
