    AMD 64 friendly distribution

Hello, I'm using Ubuntu 8 on my PC with AMD processor. Generally I love Ubuntu, but it seems that it hates my AMD processor. I can't install Flash player (no YouTube ), no new skype version (only version 2 available which is prehistoric) and so on and so on. Seems like all goodies are for Intel processors. Sure here are ways around but being newbie in Linux its really complicated.
So my question is: Are there any distributions that I could run and have no problems using my AMD processor? Or maybe I'm doing something wrong?
    Thanks

    Welcome to the forums!

AMD64 stands for 64-bit architecture. It has nothing to do with CPU manufacturer. You can use nspluginwrapper for 32-bit plugins within 64-bit browsers.
Anyhow, you may be better off using 32-bit version of Ubuntu. Only a few CPU-intensive applications actually benefit from 64-bit OS. (AVC encoding for instance is reported to run about 30% faster.)

Thank you for reply. So basically instead of downloading 64 version I should download and install 32 version and I will be fine?
