When a document asks to "chose an application" and I want to point to "open office" or any other application.......where do I look to chose that application....

I'm in Fluxbox Mint right now but I bet it is the same as Ubuntu. You can find whatever app you wish to use to open a certain document or file in /usr/share/applications
