[SOLVED] mic not working with skype :(

    Hi All,

I bought my girlfriend a webcam/mic recently only to find out that this particular logitech webcam has a known issue with the mic (it randomly ticks/hisses/etc...) so I can hardly skype with her because of it.

So, easy solution, $5 mic on ebay, problem....it's not working with skype!

I have followed instructions to make pulse audio take over pretty much everything:

Arun’s Blog Skype Microphone problem and complete pulse audio setup in Ubuntu

everything works great and using the pulse audio app I can see that the mic DOES work, there is a monitor that fluxuates a lot when I speak or tap it.

Unfortunately, I can't get it working with skype. I went through EVERY input option in the sound options and none of them work. The weirdest thing is using pulse as input makes the test call record the actual last 2 seconds of the call where it says something like "record after the beep" but doesn't capture anything from the mic.

Another interesting thing is that it's obvious that it's detecting "something" because when there is no capture device or it's configured incorrectly a test call won't go through or the test call will end immediately. The test call works, takes about 5-8 seconds of blank capture and then that's it.

The mic is not muted....any ideas? I really want to get this working....no more logitech devices for me unless they'll refund my money for this, then maybe

I would advise using Skype (Beta) 2.1.0.47 which is available from the Skype website.

In the past I have had to make Sound Devices adjustments but I think they have just ironed that out and the "Default" device just works.
