[SOLVED] Apache and ftp on Debian Lenny

greetings, I am just getting started. I have Lenny up and running behind a wireless router on my hacker's home network , just a minimal install (bash shell) with ssh and Samba so far.

I'd like to set up a LAMP server (Apache, mySQL, php). The instructions seem clear enough. Debian's apt makes it easy.

My question is if I do something like apt-get install apache2 will that set me up with an ftp daemon also?

    Thanks.

edit: ok after installing it seems that Apache doesn't include ftp by default. Anyways, since I was already using ssh and putty for remote access. I decided to use sftp for file transfers for the time being.

No questions relevant to the original post. Apache does not include ftp as I ended up figuring out for myself. And sftp suits my file transfer needs for now.

Setting up a LAMP server using apt was pretty simple, though I haven't tried any fine tuning yet.

I have noticed that my Linux box seems to go to sleep on the network after periods of inactivity, thus making initial connections slow. I haven't done any research on that yet, probably I'll start a thread on if I don't find an answer on my own. Unless there is a quick and easy answer that you know about?
