    [Ubuntu 9.04] Wireless very slow?

I have a fresh install of ubuntu 9.04 and i connected to my university campus wireless successfully. I know the internet is working because google page loads, but about 5-6 times slower than if i connected in vista.

I have an Intel 5100 Wireless wifi link A/G/N. My drivers are iwlagn.

I read somewhere that this works: sudo iwconfig wlan0 rate 5.5M

then editing this file: gksudo gedit /etc/rc.local and put iwconfig wlan0 rate 5.5M before exit 0

Will that work on my card?

Only one way to find out.

But it sounds plausable, and you can always undo it later on by removing that line.
