Puppy connection problems
I cannot seem to get puppy linux to connect to my internet. I've obtained my ip address, tried a dhcp connection, didn't work, and so input my static ip to it. It says it's successful but either I've no idea how to actually connect to it, or it isn't successful. Either way the internet itself does not work.
I am also completely new to linux, coming from years and years of microsoft. How do I run simple exe files? It says to associate them with an application. Which application? Where are these applications? How do I associate the file to the application?
Also either I'm blind or I can't find the text editors puppy claims to have, so I cannot begin bash scripting, which i've just started learning and need a lot of practice.
I would take this to puppy, but their site is down. It seems to have been hacked, earlier there were CP pics and flashing test saying something along the lines of ALBANIAN POLICE FORCE!!

Looks like the site is almost all back.
Here is a thread discussing the hack on the puppy forums.

Which version of puppy are you using? For text editors, I'm pretty sure it has leafpad and nano (on the command line) at least. I haven't used Puppy for awhile, but it should just be the icon labeled "edit" on the desktop.

Exe files don't run in Linux. They're strictly Windows executables. What you need to do is use Linux programs that do the same job. This link shows one of many lists of equivalences available through Google.
