Running windows app that Wine won't
I have a data logging program called Pasco DataStudio that I want to run on Ubuntu Remix. I have it running with Wine but only the software runs. It won't detect the USB hardware that is connected. Any other programs that will help me?

I use a free virtualization tool called virtual box from Sun. It can emulate any windows or linux OS and run the respective software as if there was another computer inside my current one.
There are other emulators besides vbox, but you can give it a try. its very easy.
besides Wine i've heard of Cedega, but i've never tried it. I ear its good for games...

I'm not sure you can configure wine to pass your linux USB ports thru to your applications. It will allow you to use USB thumb drives however. I just ran winecfg, the Wine configuration tool and there was nothing about USB ports.
Myself, I run Windows XP in a VirtualBox virtual machine, and that does allow pass-thru of USB ports to the Windows system. You do need a Windows license, but that's another issue.Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
