Mandriva Spring 2009. Gnome V2.26

I was adding some new applications (in add / remove software). When I next booted up I had lost the tool bar and consequently cannot access any applications, preferences or admin tasks. The only thing i can do is change the desktop by right click or use the icons I had the desktop which is Firefox and My Computer which does at least get me into the File system.

Question: Is there an easy way to access the program launchers? I have looked for a download that could do this for me. The right mouse does not access anything useful. I have tried Alt + F2 but I do not know the local host user name or password.

Otherwisee everything seems to working correctly !
