Linux support
I have started this tread to kinda ask for help about some things and others can ask stuff to if they wish.
Ok problem number one, I use slax and I download alot of movies and shows. I tried the monitor switch by using FN + F8 but to no avail it does not work. So does anyone know of some software or driver i could get or even a command i could use to correct this ?
Problem two, Anyone gamers ? Well if anyone uses epsxe then I need some help. I have got it up and running but the vidoe plugin option will not let me config it. As a result I can not get it to run in fullscreen. I hit the config button but nothing comes up. I have been fustrated with this for awhile.
Other then that Im doing good learning linux, I saved so much money when I got unetbootin and put slax on it. I figured out how to save my data on it so thats not a problem anymore.
As you guys can see im into media, you know, music games and videos. My exp with windows was fustrating with all the viruses and junk, but as soon as i switched due to someone on ebay selling me a pc with conterfiet windows, I found that linux was faster and alot more reliable. So now im here in these forums and learnng at a good pace. its really cool

Regarding the Alternate Function keys (Fn, that is usually specific to the make/model of the PC. Some of the newer distro versions have some of these functions working.
As for gaming, I am not a gamer. Gaming seems to require a good video device and video driver. In Linux, this is limited to nVidia, because the other video manufaturer (ATI) doesn't have a good Linux driver. Intel video is poor in both Windows AND Linux, so I wouldn't waste time with that.
Both of your problems may be solved by using a different (and newer) version of Linux, other than Puppy. Try a full disrtibution like Ubuntu, Fedora or Suse. There are other, but I have no experience with them (like Arch Linux)Paul

I have had good results with Ubuntu supporting the FN keys on several Dell laptops, including the screen switch when I used my D630 with a display projector for an IEEE mini-class.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

Can't help with the function keys (don't own a laptop)
As for ePSXe and fullscreen.. It could be a problem with compiz or beryl if you are running those. I don't use either, but others report certain issues .
For default fullscreen (which isn't an option in my plugin gui access either)
from my .. gpuPeteMesaGL.cfg:
[screen]
ResX = 1024 # X resolution (def=1024)
ResY = 768 # Y resolution (def=76
KeepRatio = 0 # Keep psx aspect ratio (0/1, def=0)
Dithering = 0 # dithering (0/1, def=0)
FullScreen = 1 # fullscreen (0/1, def=1), still needs correct ResX/Y!
This starts the emulation in fullscreen every time.
I'm running the MesaGL driver version 1.76 .. not 1.77 which gave me problems with always starting windowed. I don't know what the problem is, but going back one version cured the problem.

Ya, I'll have to hit the emulation forums on psx. Ive tried ubuntu but keep in mind, my hdd went out so im running on usb stick, does ubuntu have the option of saving your data onto the usb stick. I know slax does, however i have more usb sticks to try ubuntu. Do you think linux mint might be a good option too for my case ?
re on psx : alright awsome, I just config the file and its works in fullscreen now. Thanks im going to have alot of fun with it
