Converting Windows XP to Linux Server
Hello. New here.
I have a Windows XP machine that is collecting dust. So I decided to turn it into a Linux file server. What is the best way to do this?
It is a 2.53 mhz, P4, 768 RAM and one 160GB Hard Drive.
I really don't need a RAID set up, this is basically for home use for an extra back up for my files. Nothing major.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Welcome to the forums!
You can find a poll for favorite server distro here:

You might want to check the system requirements on each distribution before proceeding. Once you decide what distro you will install, you can find lots of HowTos on the web for configuring and tweaking the server.
Do let us know how it goes.oz
