Random Internet loss
Ok so I originally installed linux onto my lap top last may and had absolutely no problems with it. When the newest update came out I made sure to install it. However after some time I wasn't pleased with the way it was running I am sure that by now any issues have been resolved and I should consider going back, but I digress.
Recently I left my florida apartment to come to Buffalo, when I arrived my computer connected to my families internet no problem for two days I was able to surf and do whatever without any issues.
When I woke up this morning however and attempted to connect my computer won't even show that there is any type of wireless signal at all (I am currently using my fathers windows vista based computer *shudders*)
I have re-started my computer several times and nothing is helping even turning it off and letting it sit for a minute hasn't helped. This of course could all be to blame on the terrible weather I am currently experiencing however I am not sure if that is the reason because clearly I am able to connect now.
any help would be greatly appreciated, I will do my best to check back here but will probably forget.
thank you.
also my bad if there was already a post about this I am new.

I know this may sounds stupid, but do you think you did anything to mess with the network manager? (if you are using it that is) maybe try reinstalling it, what distro are you using?

Did you happen to pick up a kernel update? My wireless card has to be recompiled any time an update includes a kernel patch. From the symptoms you described it's sounds like just like how my wireless responds in that situation. If I where to click on the network manager icon in the system tray it would be as if I had no wireless what so ever.
For me it's as simple as opening a terminal, cd to the directory where my driver source is stored (had to download it myself), and entering;
sudo su
make clean
make
make install
What is the make and model of your wireless adapter?
