Alternative to puppy?
I am looking for something about the same size, or ideally even smaller, quick to boot, network support. My grumble with puppy is it's file manager, i find it poor, also a single click acts like a double click does in windows, very annoying if you want to select some files, and finally with puppy i always get read / write errors when trying to copy files from a windows hd to a usb drive (live cd)

Damn Small Linux is generally considered an alternative to Puppy, but it appears to be dormant at the current time. Lots of users continue to install it anyway.
Zenwalk is another good option, but it's not as small as Puppy.oz

You might want to test drive NimbleX also. Uses KDE 3.5. You'll like the file manager also.

Some other popular lightweight options would include Xubuntu, Fluxbuntu, and Slax. You'd need to try each distro and make up your own mind about which one bests suits you and your hardware. You can also check the following page for a few other lighweight distros, some of which might be too light:

There are also a variety of puplets, some of which use different file managers by default. The single click behavior can be modified, I'm sure, though I'm not too familiar with Rox-Filer (which I believe is what puppy uses) to advise how.

Thanks for replies, going to try slax and nimblex. I already have dsl, and it's quite good, but i would say puppy was better.
