Post Need help in selection and compilation !

I am an Electronics Engg. working on an DAQ embedded project.
I have a Gigabyte TA7..it has a via chipset and processor.i cant post links..but its the first hit if you google gigabyte TA7 !

I have to take multifarious inputs, condition them, perform functions and give appropriate outputs.

    My questions are :

what OS would suit my needs ?
i am familiar with programming in embedded C/C++.Which Cross Compiler would i require ?

I will appreciate any and all help possible !
    Thanks.

What is your exact target environment? Is this for true real-time applications, or some sort of kiosk purpose?
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

    data acquisition

it is for real-time applications. The project concerns firing of a burner for an industrial boiler.
The algorithm must monitor and maintain safety constraints, log data and exceptions.
    Algorithm is predictive.

One of the best realtime posix operating systems with which I am familiar is QNX. They support many processors and support multi-core, multi-cpu systems as well as smaller embedded ones. Go to QNX Realtime operating system (RTOS) software, development tools, and services for embedded applications. for more information. They are one of the principal developers and contributors to the CDE for Eclipse. I've been using and developing on their systems for 25 years - first rate software and highly recommended for hard real-time and safety-critical systems.
