    How to Mount as root?

    Hi,

I just finished a new install, and have a second HD on my system I can not mount unless I am root. On my first system, I can mount all drives... I forgot what I did to get it such that I can mount any drive as non root... Can someone help?

    Thanks,
    Dave

What distribution are you running? You want to be able to mount using your filemanager or from the command line?

Most distros have a group your user must belong to, to mount as non-root. In Arch, it's the storage group. Not sure what it is in other distros.

There is also a cli program, pmount, that will allow you to mount as your user.

Or, if this is a drive that is always attached, you can add an entry to /etc/fstab for it.
