Hi, I am in the market for a printer for my Linux system... Any recomendations for a good supported printer? Maybe an all-in-One? Thanks, Dave...

I've always had good luck with Brother printers and Linux, but HP printers are generally well supported, too. That said, I like laser printers, so that's what I always buy.

I have an HP Laserprinter 5P. Works like a charm.
If you can afford it, go for a printer that understand Postscript natively.

But in general, just make sure your printer in spe has a "works perfectly" in this database. database/databaseintro | The Linux Foundation

    Stay away from AllInOne-printers though.

Sometimes, the newest of printers won't be included in the OpenPrinting.org database yet. If you don't see the printer that you are considering listed there, check the website of the printer manufacturer to see if they have Linux drivers available. Any applicable drivers might be included on the CD included with the printer and/or they might be available by download directly from their website.

    Hi,

Got a printer today, an HP OJ4680. I plugged it in, Deb saw it, installed drivers for it, and it started working! Nice... Big changes in the installs from the old 5 disk Slackware days!!

    Thanks again,
    Dave
