But does anybody have a opinion on wich version of linux i should use i am an advanced user but not too familiar on the linux system. On windows yes i can do it all but i am turning to the good site. Hi, welcome...
I hope you find this forum helpful.
btw, if you don't have a 64bit system then you can't use 64bit distribution.
but you can use qemu to emulate the 64bit virtual machine on 32bit system...
To be honest, don't do that, its damn slooooow.. as far as for the server system use a solid machine not virtual.

Hi and Welcome !
Which Graphics Card do you have? Post your Machine's specs here.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Pardon me, I find both the question and the posts above confusing. IrishBoxer, are you asking whether to use 32bit or 64bit version or you are asking, which linux distro is good for you both interms or eye candy and security (although you are on Kubuntu now)?
If former is your case above suggestions hold. If you actually meant a distro suggestion, you can stick to kubuntu. Its ubuntu with KDE.
Taskbar/menu at the bottom, eye-candy, security...hmm...
1. linuxmint (based on ubuntu)
2. opensuse
3. mandriva

thanks for the help fellas i am currently using kubuntu yes i like the setup just kinda hard to get software on it. But it works well i just lost the main bar (taskbar) by accident. just wish i could get it back without haveing to reinstall. I am not sure how to get my system information off of my pc. so far it has a 120gb hard drive 1gb ram 32bit system. intel graphic card i think i know it has a dual pentium 4 processor

Stick with the distro you like - use the package manager to install software
Stick with what you have at the moment. Learn to use the distro package manager ... which I think is adept for GUI, apt-get or aptitude for the command line - see here

You can taylor the distro to do exactly what you need, no distro is only for beginners ... you don't need to change distro to progress.
Ed: you don't need to re-install ... its not Windows
check the link above - tips & tricks ... I think restore the task manager bar will help sort your issue

I just reinstalled
but all good now. I wanna get advanced on linux distros because i am sick of windows xp and vista and the new 7. It always ends up slow as hell after a couple days. But with linux i noticed there is a lil lage here and there but nothing serious. but i like the sleek look of kubuntu just wanna get to know it alot more. I will take a look at those tips.
Thanks,
IrishBoxer

I would also say stick with Kubuntu, Ubuntu, or Linux Mint, until you get past the initial learning curve.
But if you are really keen to learn, and don't mind reading a lot and going through some struggles, installing something like Arch Linux or Slackware is a great learning experience. (I obviously prefer Arch but to each their own.)
With an integrated intel graphics card, eye candy will be a little limited. I assume by eye candy, you're referring to the fancy effects of a compositing window manager like compiz, or kwin in KDE4. You can run these with that graphics card, but it will not have the greatest performance.

thanks, I have noticed there arent too many ebooks about kubuntu actually i havent found one. but i have over 300 other linux books. I have Kubuntu setup the way i want now. I got rid of the pile they call ktorrent (my Opinion) and added Transmission and a few other applications. now i should be good does anybody know how to change icons i have tried getting packs from kde look.org and i couldn't get them to work. I tried loading them wile they were tar.gz or whatever and i tried extracting and re-archiving them to file format.
