    channel is irc.freenode.net

    join chat is #kubuntu

I use pidgin to join chat as well chatzilla which is included in Seamonkey 2.0 browser. I hang out sometimes at #puppylinux sometimes to watch the silliness.

You can always check out Chatzilla too, an addon for Firefox.

Install Konversation which is an IRC client that fits in nicely with the rest of the KDE desktop in Kubuntu.

I'm not much of an IRC'er, but I agree with daark.child that Konversation is a great IRC client.

Xchat is another easy to use and very popular IRC client.

Isn't Konversation pre-installed in Kubuntu? I haven't used KDE since KDE4 release but iirc, Konversation was pre-installed in KDE 3.x.

Xchat is one of my favourite IRC client.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

If you should decide that you want a terminal based IRC client, you can take a look at irssi, or bi tchx:

Irssi - The client of the future

    http://www.bi tchx.com/

Both are very popular with terminal based IRC users.

Note that you'll need to remove the space from the bit chx parts above.
