easy operating system to install??
Hi all I'am sorry if this has been posted before but I cant seem to see anything.
I recently aquired a new Netbook (no cd drive) from a electronics store.
It came with no operating software just some black and white basic linux which wont let me do anything.
I just wanted to know whats the easiest operating system to install and how do I do it I presume by USB?
As the guy at the store was trying to sell me Windows vista at an extra 50$ and this was a cd. But my netbook Acer does not have a place for a cd.
Anyone who can help thank you.
My netbook is Acer Aspire one D250

Hi and Welcome !
A discussion on Linux distro for Netbooks is on in this thread. Do post back here if you have any other question. It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Simple tool to create a bootable live USB drive is unetbootin.
You know how to change the boot order in the BIOS?

Once you've booted from the USB drive, here is an installation guide.
It's for the Dell Mini, but everything up to installing the wireless driver is generic. I believe the Aspire One D250 uses an atheros card, which should work out of the box with the ath5k driver.
