    CLI Terminal shells

    Just a quick ? Is there a difference between the shells such as sh, csh, ksh and bash if so what is it or is it simply a matter of preference ?

    There are some very real differences

    Their scripting languages vary for instance csh is designed with a c-like language. They will have differing abilities. Some are extendable and some are designed to be very light and fast, for example dash which is often used as a start up shell.
