unable to install damn small linux

Well, today I decided to try and install Damn Small Linux 4.4.10 on a very old laptop. Unfortunately once installed, it refused to load the operating system.

I am able to run DSL when I load it to RAM, but I am unable to install it to my harddrive correctly?

The system on which I am trying to install it on is a Toshiba Tecra 550CDT.

Any insight on the problem would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi and Welcome !

Unfortunately once installed, it refused to load the operating system.
We need a bit more info. Does machine display any error message at startup?
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

No, after about 2 hours of waiting, all that was displayed was a blank screen with a flashing cursor.

Does GRUB Menu appear at startup? Have you tried to boot up in Command Line Mode?
