    I am new to linux

    currently have windows 7 installed, can i delete windows 7 and run linux? and also if i run windows 7 as a virtual pc in linux will my printer still work?

    you can, and .... maybe. I'd suggest doing a dual boot however. You can resize your windows 7 partition to allow space for linux, and install both side by side. Then if Linux doesn't work for you (it's not for everyone, and some hardware works, some doesn't) you still have windows.

    I don't have any tutorials I can give, but if you google for some, I'm sure someone has written a howto on it. I'd recomend Ubuntu, Fedora, Suse, or Mandrivia distros, (in that order) as they seem to be the ones geared towards newbies. You can google for them too.

    actually with a help of a friend i am going to install the mint 8 distro, is that ok?

    so i installe dthem side by side, and when grub loads it wont let me scroll down to choose windows 7, what do i do

    You get the Mint boot menu, you use your arrow keys to highlight windows 7, select it and what happens? nothing? more details, please. Did you create a separate partition for Mint after resizing your windows 7 to install it?
