Messy Uninstall needs cleanup help!
So, I did something very silly when I tried to uninstall ubuntu so i could put eeebuntu on. Now when I boot up it shows the grub menu and asks which distro i want (eebuntu, mem test, win 7) but then it has ANOTHER menu that appears that asks if I want ubuntu netbook remix or win 7. (UNR is what I TRIED to erase). Please let me know how to delete UNR while keeping win 7 and keeping EEEbuntu! Thanks!
(or, at least, how to remove the second menu).

Hi and Welcome !
Which version of EEEbuntu are you using? Post the contents of /boot/grub/menu.lst file here.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

It just says
bash: /boot/grub/menu.lst: Permission denied
was I supposed to type something in before "/boot"? (as i mentioned - newbie)
EEEbuntu I just downloaded today - so version 3.0 or whatever is the latest (not 4.0beta).
And I checked the menus -
the first menu says
ubuntu 9.02 2.6.28-11-generic
and then the memtest, etc
and
Win Vista (loader) which is very weird since I have not ever used vista on this computer. but when I click win vista I am brought to a second boot menu that offers me the choice between
win 7
ubuntu netbook remix
I pick win 7 and I am back and the internet works fine. Right now the wireless card is not being recognized in eeebuntu (or ubuntu) so I have to restart every time I want to answer a message in this forum or type something in terminal (I'm switching back and forth between the two).
I just want my little netbook back to working! I have only had it for 2 weeks! It's a eeepc1005
i am considering a total wipe of everything and reinstall from disk, except that I would have to buy an external disk drive. :P

Execute this
OrCode:sudo less /boot/grub/menu.lst
Open that file in Graphical Text file editor through root privileges. Press Alt+F2 and type this
Don't edit file. Just copy contents and post here.Code:gksu gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst
It looks like Installer has configured Windows Boot Loader and added entry of Ubuntu Netbook in it.but when I click win vista I am brought to a second boot menu that offers me the choice between
I am not a Windows 7 user. Execute bcdedit /? command at Windows 7 run command prompt and check which option does list its boot file. Post the contents of its boot file here.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
