    Welcome to the forums!

Check the link in my signature for lots of good information on getting started with Linux. You'll also find a couple of quizzes there that might help you to pick a distributions, and there is a poll here where members have voted on their favorite distro for lower spec computer hardware.

Hope you will enjoy running Linux!

With 64 mb of ram. Ubuntu Netbook is out of the question.

    Recommended minimum requirements

Ubuntu Netbook Remix should run reasonably well on a computer with the following minimum hardware specification.
    700 MHz x86 processor
384 MB of system memory (RAM)
    6 GB of disk space
Graphics card capable of 800x600 resolution and 3D (OpenGL)

Maybe take a look at Puppy Linux... it's very lightweight and quite popular.

My Browser froze while making a reply. So I restarted X LOL. Ozar recommendation was what I was going to post. Look at Puppy 3.01 or Meanpup or the new Updated 2 series

    Low spec computer

Try Antix. It is based on Debian and is quite capable on very low-end machines.

Howdy Handydan. I run AntiX on some lowend gear. IBM 390E for one. He will need to create a swap partition of 128mb or the installer won't even run. 64 mb is stretching it a bit for AntiX. Though his processor could handle it ok. I had to bump up my ram to 256mb and make a 512mb swap partition before AntiX would settle in comfortably on that 390E. That was why I recommended puppy because the OP did not mention he was going to upgrade the ram any.

Tinycore. i've been looking it over for the past couple of days. as long as you have a decent network card, the distro is only 10M, and you can download alot of packages from the net. it claims to only use 48M of ram, and it doesnt even touch the hard drive unless you install it(you can even pop the cd out to use the drive over again!!).

    hope this helps.
