    Remote desktop problem

Ok here's my issue, I've recently installed Ubuntu 9.1 on both my desktop, and on my media center/server.

I was actually having problems getting my spare monitor to work with that box and was struggling with that. I got it to boot with vesa drivers and was able to get updates and drivers at that point. The whole while i was messing around getting remote desktop working.

It was working great untill i hooked the box back up to the plasma and set the driver from vesa back to "fglrx". Once rebooted runing off of the ATI fglrx driver the remote desktop would show a shot of the desktop but would not update after that. My mouse was still doing things on the server, but the picture on my desktop wasn't updating.

If i switch back to the vesa driver, the remote desktop works again like a charm. Are there any features of the ATI driver that I have to modify to get remote desktop to work?

The ATI card a 2400HD, both machines are running Ubuntu 9.1, I'm using vncviewer to connect to the remote desktop application that comes with gnome.

After a bit more searching around, I found a post claiming that disabling beryl would solve this problem. I'm not too sure how to do that. So i instead started by disabling all the desktop effects, that seemed to work and I'm up and running again.
