    today i changed my grub boot order, and to make that work i need to do sudo grub-update.
    however, it doesnt work.

    does anyone know why, maybe the command changed?

    I cannot ever remember using this command and went ahead and tried running the same thing on Red Hat Enterprise and it failed as well.

    It's the other way round: sudo update-grub

    Its sudo update-grub command. Which version of GRUB are you using? If you are using GRUB Legacy, then there is no need to execute update-grub command.
    It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

    Thanks a bunch, it worked like a champ.... I wish wo ever puts the tips in the rub edit files would always give the complete command not just the command... I am a newbie but learning all the time...
