    easy answer: yes

In fact, it does not matter how a ISO file of a linux distribution like ubuntu gets burned on a cd or dvd.
    Can be done from windows/mac/linux/whatever.

    Similar.

    Download ubuntu 9.10 from here:
    Download Ubuntu | Ubuntu
Choose the 64bit version, if you have more than 3GByte of ram.
Burn the ISO to a CD.

    Then follow this guide:

Check this HowTo for the steps needed to properly download the ISO file, check its integrity, burn it do disk as an image, then boot with the new installation disk:

    http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/ins...ll-cd-dvd.html

You'll also find a link within that thread that has step-by-step instructions for burning images using almost 2 dozen different burning applications.

Post back if you have problems creating your install disk.
